Councillors get their hands dirty on Madiba Day

The once no-go zone saw a few minutes of unity.

Councillors joined by residents of Princess got their hands dirty in a two-hour clean-up operation at the Princess Station as part of their 67 minutes for Madiba.

What was once a no-go zone, this troubled area saw a few minutes of unity on Thursday 18 July when South Africans worked together as a community.

Those who helped ranged from the informal settlement residents themselves, to members of Region C, DA Ward 85 Councillor Carl Mann and Ward 89 Councillor Ingrid Reinten.

Soon more volunteers arrived to support the good cause.

All volunteers were kitted with gloves and refuse bags provided by Pikitup.

Due to Pikitup's general bad service residents have to make alternative plans for refuse removal.
