A baby (1) was killed on Corlett Avenue at approximately 10.30am after a VW Polo hit her aunt who was carrying her across the road.
Bystanders allege that a truck was standing at the intersection of Corlett Avenue and Java Street when the driver of a white VW Polo travelling towards Ontdekkers Road decided to overtake the truck.
The pedestrian with the baby started crossing the road out of sight of the driver of the Polo.
When the pedestrian passed the truck she walked in front of the Polo.
The baby succumbed to her injuries on the scene and the aunt was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The visibly shocked driver of the Polo sustained no injuries.
