Nonchalant thief steals car in broad daylight
Resident's expensive trip to the pharmacy.
An early morning trip to the pharmacy turned out to be a very expensive one for a resident of Witpoortjie.
In the CCTV footage that the Witpoortjie Butchery made available to the Record, the drama plays out as follows.
At 8.51am the man parks his expensive German vehicle in a bay right opposite the pharmacy at the Spar Centre on Generaal Pienaar Avenue. He then walks across the parking area and on the pavement he has a chat with one of the employees of the butchery. In the footage the young male thief-to-be is seen loitering in the area. The vehicle owner then goes into the pharmacy to see what is taking his wife so long. In the top left-hand corner of the screen the thief appears at 9.05am, walks around the car, gets in, starts it and leisurely drives off.
According to the butchery employee the vehicle owner did admit to leaving his keys in the car since he thought he would be able to keep an eye on it.
