Westview Clinic car wash a success

Director says it was such a success that they already are planning the next event.

A cheery group of volunteers and Westview Clinic personnel greeted residents as they came around to the Clinic to have their cars washed on Saturday 3 May.

The Clinic held a car wash and fun day on the premises on Saturday in order to raise much-needed funds for its operational costs, said Freda Steenkamp, Westview Clinic director.

“We didn’t want to go out there and tell people about our cause but rather wanted residents to come around and get to know us, our cause and our people,” she told the record. The Clinic held a car wash where, while residents waited, they could enjoy food, a reptile pop-up ‘park’ and music. There also was a jumping castle for the children to play on.

She said that the fundraiser was a major success and that they had raised R6 000 in total.

“I haven’t even gotten around to calculating how many cars that is!

“We already are planning our next fundraiser at the premises, and I’m hoping to get children involved this time, to raise awareness.”

Steenkamp said that the Clinic had hosted a Buddy sleepover the night before the car wash where ex-patients came back, gave their testimonials and supported and motivated current patients and staff members.

“Everybody did their part on Saturday – ex-patients, current patients and staff.”

Steenkamp communicated her gratitude towards every person who assisted them on Saturday on behalf of Westview Clinic.
