Severe thunderstorms may be on the rise
JOBURG – South African Weather Service distinguishes between thunder storms and severe thunder storms.
South African Weather Service has issued a watch for severe thunderstorms in Johannesburg on 20 November. According to Kobus Cronjé, weather forecaster, there is a 60 per cent chance of severe thunder storms reaching Johannesburg in the late afternoon or evening.
Cronjé said that the SA Weather Service distinguishes between thunder storms and severe thunder storms. “Severe thunders storms could produce large quantities of small hail, large and damaging hail or strong and damaging surface winds.”
It is advised to be on the lookout and protect your car.
