A vibrant celebration of heritage
The market left an everlasting effect on both the vendors and visitors.
On Sunday, September 22, Kwena Square came alive with vibrant colours, diverse products, and a buzzing atmosphere as local entrepreneurs and small businesses gathered for a special Heritage Day market.
The event, part of Kwena Square’s Join the #Upside Heritage Day Campaign, showcased the resilience, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the community’s small, medium and micro enterprises.
With a focus on giving back to the community, the market provided a platform for small businesses to engage with shoppers, showcase their unique products, and expand their customer base.

According to the marketing director, Holly Nemathithi, the market was not just about selling goods but sharing stories of overcoming challenges.
“Our campaign is all about celebrating resilience and showing how people have turned around a bad situation,” she explains.
The market featured a wide variety of vendors, each with its own unique story. Among them was Nana’s Jam & Confectionery, a business born out of adversity during the Covid-19 pandemic, who shared their inspiring journey of resilience, having started their business after losing a job due to the impact of Covid.
Young entrepreneurs Melissa and Mark Baggott, from Sky Redefined, introduced their stylish range of scrunchies and hair clips to the community, while Lindelwa Maseko and Nobuhle Mtshali from Khanyi’s Glow showcased their beauty products.

Shoppers had the opportunity to browse through an array of handmade crafts, including beautiful uniquely crafted jewellery by Stone Tree, luxurious bath salts from Vee Pees Allure, trendy bags from MK Boutique and much more. The event celebrated the entrepreneurial spirit of local businesses, offering a memorable shopping experience for the Little Falls community while promoting local talent.
“Kwena Square remains committed to uplifting local businesses and providing them with opportunities to thrive, and the Heritage Day market was a true reflection of this dedication,” Holly concludes.
