Ruiter Festival: Let the fun begin!

Die Ruiter was ready to unleash the fun.

Laerskool Die Ruiter hosted their annual Ruiter Festival on May 4.

This festival started as a family day and the school has been hosting it for the past six years (except for during the lockdown).

Laerskool Esperanza, Laerskool Boskop and Laerskool Ebenhaeser were all invited to play friendly sports games against Die Ruiter. The weather was nice and warm which contributed to the children and their families enjoying the day. The children played rugby and netball, but a big variety of food stalls and vendors were also part of the festival.

According to Die Ruiter’s marketing officer Suzette Louw, the festival serves as a fundraiser for the school and also allows community members to come and enjoy the day with everyone.

“It is a lovely day for all to enjoy. We would like to expand the sport to encompass more schools,” Suzette added.

A local DJ played music that kept the event lively and the guests entertained, both parents and their children sang and danced to most of the songs that were playing.

“We received a lot of compliments from parents, other school attendees, and principals of schools on our neat buildings and terrain. A lovely breakfast was arranged and everyone had a very enjoyable day,” Suzette highlighted.

Beautiful plants, books, facial tissues, and other artistic crafts were also sold at the Ruiter Market. The children loved the jumping castles, the white elephant table, and the face paint stall. There were no injuries sustained during the festival’s games and according to Suzette, the festival was a great success as they did not face any challenges while planning the event and during the event.

The parents and children left the event with many great memories and some are already looking forward to next year’s festival.
