Tour Parkview’s schools and churches

PARKVIEW - Explore some of this leafy suburb's fascinating history on a walking tour with the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation.

The walk will take in a number of the suburb’s schools and churches that have played a role in bringing a community together for decades.

“Starting at the shopping centre, we will see St Francis of Assissi Anglican Church, Parkview Junior School, St Peter’s Lutheran Church, and Laerskool Jan Celliers,” said the foundation’s Eira Bond.

From there, the tour will journey up to Parktown High School for Girls, the Coptic Orthodox Church, and St Columba’s Church before returning to the shopping centre in Tyrone Avenue.

The tour will take place on 1 March at 2pm.

Parking will be available at the Parkview library at the corner of Tyrone Avenue and Athlone Road.
