Fire in the city
JOHANNESBURG – Two hundred cars were burned in a fire in Booysens on 21 January.

According to Joburg Emergency Services spokesperson Nana Radebe, the fire started at a scrapyard when some men were working on one of the cars.
“Emergency services were called at 1.54pm. Some guys were cutting the engine when a fire sparked and quickly caught onto other cars,” she said.
Radebe confirmed no one got caught in the fire or injured, however 200 cars and the scrapyard were burned in the inferno that broke out during the day.
Twitter users were in a bit of frenzy after seeing the heavy smoke coming from what appeared to be close to the Selby Road offramp in Joburg.
