Hyde Park High School’s new pupils

HYDE PARK - Hyde Park High School welcomed the new group of Grade 8 pupils to the school.

“Grade 8 pupils Oliver and Jamie Butow were anxious, yet grateful, to be together on their first day of school,” said communications secretary of the school, Avril Wright.

To help settle the pupils in, each Grade 8 pupil was allocated a Grade 12 mentor who is their big brother/sister for the year. “This ensures they always have someone they can look up to and go to for help when in need, be it finding a class, getting to the library or even just someone to chat to,” Wright added.

The Grade 8 pupils will have a team building and orientation obstacle course run by the senior councillors, which will take place on 30 January on the school’s sports field. This event aims to assist with teamwork and building relationships among the pupils and councillors in a safe environment.
