Jeppestown fire injures 3 children

JEPPESTOWN - At least four people were injured on 25 June, three of them young children, when a fire broke out in a flat at the corner of Jules and Hans Street in Jeppestown.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, paramedics were called to the scene by Fire services, where they found four patients being treated by the fire fighters.

“On assessment, paramedics found that three male children aged 7, 2, and 7 months as well as the 32-year-old mother had sustained minor burns as well as smoke inhalation,” said Meiring.

“Paramedics treated the four patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Johannesburg General Hospital for further medical treatment.”

The cause of the fire is not yet known but fire authorities were on scene for further investigations.

It is not clear what time the fire started, however North Eastern Tribune can confirm that it was before 7.30pm.
