Passion for the arts
ROSEBANK - Claire Tsumane (16), a Grade 9 pupil of St Mary’s School, is set to perform in the United States.
In 2013, Tsumane decided that she needed to challenge herself and auditioned for ITS auditions, along with two of her school friends. They made it to the next round at the auditions held in October last year at Montecasino.
The showcase took place over two days with non-stop performances from actors, singers, dancers and models from all over South Africa and Africa.
On both performance days, more than 500 people participated in the showcase. “It was very exciting, but also very scary,” Tsumane said.
“I have been singing and performing my entire life. I have always felt most at home and free to be myself on a stage, expressing myself through a character or through lyrics in a song.”
Tsumane was one of the entrants who was selected to fly to the USA to perform in front of agents, casting managers and producers. The singer left on 14 June and will participate at The Arts Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) 2015 until 25 June.
“I am so excited to have been selected to represent South Africa,” she said. “I am very keen to learn about the industry and ARTS 2015 is such an amazing platform for learning and building a career in entertainment. I will mainly be going to sing, act and model.”
