St John’s College’s sixth form 2025 house committee leaders unite to lead effectively
The role of the student affairs representatives is to uplift and support sixth-form members, which the new committee is committed to doing.
St John’s College sixth form 2025 house committee leaders are looking forward to their leadership roles in the coming year.
Student affairs representative Masana Tshabalala said her role was to stand for all sixth form members and address any matters they could have, whether through friendships or suggestions, to make the sixth form a suitable space for all.

“My goal, as a student affairs representative, is to provide a colorful experience for learners of sixth form. I wish for all students to embrace expressing themselves and their aspirations through a safe, loving, and driven space.”
Masana added that her leadership role is one she thought would be suitable for her since she worked well with her peers.
Head of women’s forum Sli Mbada’s role is to provide a safe space for the young women in the sixth form.
“My goals for the year are primarily centred around recognising women in the sixth form. I want to establish a physical piece that’ll be a memento for all the women who have been, and will be, in the sixth form. I would also like to provide a safe community for our women, ensuring they always have a support structure.”

Sli added that the role of the women’s forum was the one she was most keen on because it was the perfect intersection between her concern for the well-being of women in general, omitting the aspect of fear that comes with being a minority in a predominantly male environment at St John’s, and wanting to lead and actively improve a space that she’s come to cherish.
Deputy head of women’s forum Lucinda Pretorius explained that her role was to support the head of the women’s forum, draft ideas together, plan events, and run the women’s forum meetings.
“It is my duty to ensure that Sli is supported and that we can run the women’s forum effectively together. The purpose of the women’s forum is to ensure that all of the women of St John’s sixth form are safe, welcome, and happy, so it is my goal to do this to the best of my ability.”
Lucinda added that she was keen to run a fundraiser and spend the earnings towards helping women across Johannesburg, as well as to create something physical on the school campus to acknowledge the women of St John’s.
“My last goal is to keep the younger learners engaged and interested in our cause, so that they may elevate both the women’s forum and St John’s sixth form once I have graduated.”
