Man shot and killed in Marlboro

MARLBORO – The victim was heading to a cash and carry when two suspects confronted and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash.


A 35-year-old man was shot and killed on 5th Street in Marlboro this afternoon, 19 July, after an armed robbery by two suspects. 

Sandton Police Station spokesperson Captain Granville Meyer said, “The victim was in his vehicle on his way to a cash and carry where they sell tickets. He was busy counting money when a grey Totoya Conquest with two male occupants stopped near him. One suspect got out of the vehicle confronted him, shot and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects then drove away.”

Meyer added, “The deceased tried to run away after the robbery but he collapsed a few metres from his vehicle. He was declared dead on the scene.”

Meyer confirmed that a case of murder has been opened. The suspects are still at large and the police investigation continues.
