SEDIBENG.- Sedibeng Ster Sport has witnessed an increasing number of young girls who play soccer with and against their male counterparts.
This happened during the mini pre-season tournament at the Sancta Maria Primary School sports fields over the weekend.
There were a number of young girls from LMS Academy and Italian Two Touch FC playing alongside and against the boys. This has been happening for a while now. Sedibeng Ster Sport has spotted quite a number of young girls showing their skills against boys. These are the future Banyana Banyana stars. Most of them were playing in the U11 division when LMS Academy played against Two Touch FC in the mini pre-season tournament.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, these young girls said playing with and against boys builds their strength. They told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they have improved physically since playing with the boys.
They were excited to be interviewed by Sedibeng Ster Sport asking if they were going to be in the newspaper.
“We really enjoy playing with and against them and they treat us like everyone else. They helped us improve our game. We want to play for Banyana Banyana. Please make us famous so that Banyana’s coach can see us,” they eagerly said.
Some women’s soccer coaches told Sedibeng Ster Sport that playing with the boys gives these young girls an advantage over other players.
