You need to get rid of every piece of junk food, but please, KEEP THE POPCORN!

Aside from the fact that popcorn is a super easy, on-the-go snack, did you know it is also considered nutritious?

We all heard it before – ‘OMG! Popcorn is so healthy’.

But exactly why do we need to get rid of every piece of junk food from our kitchen cupboard and replace it with this super delicious, flavored (you are limited only by your imagination) piece of oiled or microwaved corn?

Aside from the fact that popcorn is a super easy, on-the-go snack, did you know it is also considered nutritious?

Popcorn contains some of the basic nutrients which most people don’t get enough of and, which our bodies need.

Popcorn is loaded with fibre and, we all need fibre, well, in order to help stay ‘regular’, and to slow down the rate of sugar absorbed into your bloodstream.

When you consume fibre rich foods your body’s glucose levels are kept from rising too fast.

Did you know that popcorn is also filled with whole grains and antioxidants?

Guess you didn’t.

So here is why you need antioxidants as well as popcorn – wait, I meant whole grains.

Antioxidants are substances which may help your body protect itself against free radical damage.

Free radicals are basically molecules produced when your body breaks down food, or is exposed to toxins such as tobacco and radiation.

Free radicals have been known to play a role in various diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Whole grains!!!

Whole grains are also super important and cannot be missed – thanks goodness we have popcorn.

Rich in a variety of vitamins, including B vitamins, niacin, thiamine and folate, whole grains are also an amazing source of minerals such as manganese, magnesium, zinc and iron – definitely something you want to make sure you get enough of on a daily basis.
