Case ‘Closed’ for Sole

INTRO

The region’s top players tested their mettle last Saturday.

GAVIN Sole won the 2015 Southern KwaZulu-Natal Closed at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday. The format was somewhat different, played as a Stableford, but with a twist.

Scoring was interesting, with seven points for an eagle, four for a birdie, two for a par, zero for a bogey and minus one for double bogey or worse.

It had some ‘puzzled’ but others were grateful they didn’t have to play ‘five off the tee’ on certain holes, most notably the 3rd hole.”It was a bit weird putting for 4 for 0 on a par three I must admit,” said Sole.

Leorin Pillay and Altaaf Bux will be trying their hand at the Vusi Ngubeni Q School in an effort to get their Sunshine Tour cards. The premier league team for the first game, against Toti at Toti on February 8, is Sean Baker, Jan McDermott, Altaaf Bux (unless he gets his card), Elvis Khawula, David Rush, Jarrod van Wyk, Marc Bormann and Chris Poole.
