Chopper makes emergency landing in Ifafa cane field

The forced landing was apprently a result of mechanical failure.

Yesterday Med-Evac Emergency Services received reports of a helicopter crash somewhere near Ifafa.

Glen Preston of Med-Evac said that without having an exact location a call was made to pilot Hendric Ludick of Airtrack Wolf helicopter, and without hesitation he offered to assist them to locate the scene.
                                         Hendric Ludick.
Mr Preston said a road ambulance and response vehicles, as well as SAPS Search and Rescue, were dispatched and the helicopter responded.
The scene was soon located and the pilot was treated and transported to hospital in a stable condition.
“The pilot had made a hard but successful emergency landing after suffering a reported mechanical failure while spraying sugar cane,” he said.
Mr Preston praised everyone involved.
