RIP Barbara

And more sad news is that one of the Collectibles, Barbara Bosman, died after a long battle with cancer at the South Coast Hospice on Monday, April 23, at 6am. Her family were able to be with her at the end. Sincere condolences to all family and family.

Be alert

There have been complaints and reports that a young man is wandering the streets with a bottle of wine, wanting to exchange it for an egg. This is obviously a ruse to gain access to your home as he has an accomplice in a black Audi with a CY registration parked down the road. They appear to be targeting women, so please be very wary.

Talk postponed

The Friends of Southport Library’s talk on spiders has been cancelled due to the clinic deciding at short notice that they will be using the hall on that day. The talk will be rescheduled and re-advertised. All enquiries to chairman Barbara Brauer at 076 6672839.

Be there

The next Muddy Boots market, a fund-raiser for the Tweni Camera Upgrade will be on May 6. It is growing and now boasts a ‘Farmer’s-type’ market, as well as crafts, pre-owned much-loved items and some new traders. Spaces are filling up fast. Please contact your scribe at 082 3051799 if you would like to reserve a place.

Grab a tree

There are some really generous people in Tweni. On the pavement in Mgazi Avenue, there is a small sign ‘Free trees’. Trees are available in black bags, ready for planting and Michelle Lines at Sysie Place is offering mixed bromeliad plants as she is busy thinning them out.

Stolen items

Lazer 911 was busy last week and arrested a suspect in possession of loads of electrical items ranging from a kettle, drills, cable and a battery charger to a flat screen TV. If you have recently been broken into, contact SAPS Exhibits to identify the items.

Farewell

Sadly, it’s goodbye to Annette van der Bosch who is relocating to Cowies Hill near Pinetown (a lovely part of the country) to be with family. Annette says she will miss this little piece of heaven and all the lovely caring people, but is sure to be back to visit her friends as soon as possible.

Happy birthday

Birthday wishes go to Terry McGovern (26th), Kyle Solomon turns 11 on the 27th), and had an early ‘fishing birthday’ last Friday on Tweni beach. Richard Guy also celebrates tomorrow and Cabri van Zyl on April 30th.  All news to Leila.
