Alexandra Park home for the aged in Scottburgh comes alive through music

This was the second year in a row that the orchestra decided to visit the home and entertain the elderly.

Music filled the halls at Alex Park as residents and staff members, as well as several guests from around Scottburgh, were graced by the presence of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra last Thursday.

The orchestra based their mini concert on the ‘history of orchestra, music and instruments’.

In the words of Margie Stella, administrator of Alex Park: “Where words fail, music speaks and I believe that the orchestra helped us understand this so much more when they played for us.”

Arthur Waghorn, Joan Innes and Sylvia Low.

Residents and guests described the performance as ‘a trip down memory lane’ and Joan Innes of Alex Park said that their home has never felt more alive.

Education and development co-ordinator of KZN, Thanduxolo Zulu, is the person who introduced the orchestra to the home and establishes these types of relationships with various other charities and organisations throughout the province.

Alex Park residents were grateful for their visit and hope to see them again next year for yet another world class performance.
