Band members, Gavin Hughes, James Carlsen and John Skuy presented a wide variety of musical styles for the audience’s pleasure. Called The Radio Show, this was a fund-raiser for the Transkei Animal Welfare Initiative (TAWI).

Singer/guitarist Jamestold the Herald that they were pleased to be performing for such a worthy cause. “It is an honour to be surrounded by individuals who are willing to devote their time and talent to raise funds and awareness for local animals in need,” he explained.
Chantal Wesson of TAWI told the Herald that the organisation is a nonprofit, pro-active animal welfare group, founded by Richard Norton in 2008. “It caters for 18 disadvantaged communities around Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape, where free-roaming domestic animals suffer from over-breeding, malnutrition, disease, parasites, infection, neglect and cruelty. There are no veterinary services for hundreds of kilometres and TAWI is the only organisation providing this much-needed service in the whole region,” she said.

”Through community engagement, education and working with people, our involvement addresses needs expressed by the communities with the approach of gaining understanding, acceptance and co-operation. We are not a shelter; we work in an outreach capacity with the philosophy of ‘rescuing’ animals in their own homes.”
