UPDATE: R61 toll road crash – road expected to reopen within the hour

The driver of a goods truck apparently lost control of his vehicle on the R61 earlier this morning.

The truck was en route to Margate when it overturned some 2km from the Shelly Beach off ramp.

The truck struck the steel cable barriers in the centre of the road, and overturned, blocking both lanes.

The road is presently closed to traffic and authorities are at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured.
