Mother and unborn baby killed in Umgababa pedestrian crash

Both mother and baby were declared dead at the scene.

KNOWN as possibly one of the most dangerous roadways on the South Coast, the N2 has claimed many  lives over the years.

Most recently, an 18-year-old pregnant woman was struck by an on-coming vehicle in the southbound lane. According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst, the woman was attempting to to cross the road at the time.

Netcare 911 paramedics found that the woman had already died from her injuries.

Provincial Saps spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed that the Umkomaas Saps had attended the scene and that a case of culpable homicide had been registered for investigation.
