Casparus Ndovela is a bright and creative 11 year old boy. He joined Cornerstone Learning Centre at the beginning of 2022, and brought with him an excitement and joy for all things creative.
Casparus is blessed with an artistic ability that spans from paintbrushes to the kitchen.
He enjoys drawing, painting, and baking and never ceases to amaze with his masterpieces.
His engineering prowess also stands out in a crowd, give him Lego blocks or any building material and he’s bound to turn it into a useful and artistic creation.
Casparus’s talents don’t just lie in the art room though, for when you get him on the track he shines.
His favourite is middle distance and he shows great aptitude and eagerness when doing PE.
Casparus has certainly added a colourful joy to our school and we are glad to have him.

Creston College’s Cecilia Rautenbach is an enthusiastic, talented dancer and a dedicated student of Studio 8 Dance School in Margate.
This year, she competed at regional and national levels, and received a high-silver and silver medals for her dancing.
She also received her KZN regional colours. Cecilia is preparing for her International Dance exam, taking place this week.
She is also preparing to perform at her dance studio’s annual showcase to be held later this year at the Wild Coast Sun.
Cecilia has a talent for music- singing and playing the piano.
She has been taking piano and vocal training lessons for over three years and has performed at many concerts.
She is currently practising for her Grade 1 Trinity College of London piano exam.
Cecilia is also a keen horse riding student at Quebella Horse Centre in Paddock and has a passion for horses and animals and loves being outdoors.

Keagan neem deel aan die KZN en Sharks rugby proewe en was ook deel van die span wat na Kroonstad getoer het in Julie vir die Bokkieweek. Hy verteenwoording sy skool se eerste span in rugby en krieket. Keagan is ‘n uitstekende swemmer en neem deel aan die Interlaer swemgala.
Keagan is lief daarvoor om in sy vrye tyd X-box te speel en tyd saam sy vriende en familie te spandeer. Hy is dol oor die buitelewe en is baie avontuurlustig. Hy wil graag eendag ‘n elektroniese ingenieur word.

His inspiration for this choice of career comes from seeing people who are in need of surgical help, those who need operations and others who are suffering as a result of serious accidents but cannot afford surgery. This drives his passion to pursue this particular career path and help those who are unable to help themselves, and provide them with opportunities to live again. His educator Shikar Ramsunder Bechoo sees great potential in Ntsika and believes that he can reach every goal that he sets his mind to. Port Edward Primary’s Grade 7 learner Odeshin Moodley has had a number of achievements this year.
He is the school’s Head Boy and placed fourth in the grade academically.
Odeshin is also an all-rounder on the sports field. He had two top three finishes in inter-schools athletics, as well as placed first at an inter-schools cross country event.
He was also the top athlete for inter-house athletics in the U13 age group.
In team sports, he plays first team hockey, rugby, soccer and cricket.
Odeshin was also the UKZN hockey representative and the U16 representative for KZN shore fishing.
Academically, he is consistently one of the top 5 learners in the grade.

We often hear him laughing out loud or using different voices to flesh out a character.
Qalo is a popular member of his peer group and is a loyal friend.

He started his karate training at novice level at the tender age of seven.
This committed lad has competed in several provincial and national tournaments, the most recent was held in Cape Town last month where he was awarded silver for Kumite and gold for Kata.
His diligence towards martial arts secured him a position in the KZN Karate Elite team.
Teighlon is optimistic about attaining the highest belt in the karate hierarchy.

Port Shepstone Secondary’s matriculant Amahle Mqadi stands out as she has excellent communication skills, and was commended at the IsiZulu Speech Contest for being both eloquent and articulate.
Her highly imaginative mind earned her a silver award in the De Beers English Olympiad.
Recently she was nominated to the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) because of her strong leadership abilities coupled with a bubbly personality. She is a member of the school’s Interact Club and is a budding scientist and she and her team were victorious at a Life Sciences Bioterminologious District Competition.
Amahle says she would like to pursue a career in the legal field and her ambition is two-fold as she is focused on obtaining a PhD to secure a position as a Judge in High Court in the future.

Port Shepstone High School’s Grade 10 learner, Neharika Sugudhav, is a great example of the calibre of learners which the school is proud to produce.
This bubbly, young born leader is a Representative Council of Learners (RCL) member and her inner strength and encouraging nature is evident in her leadership style.
She is always willing to assist anyone in need.
Despite her small stature, Neharika has a giant entrepreneurial spirit. She began her own business, Baking by Neha, in 2021 while in lockdown.
She found her joy by baking for family members and pushed herself to learn and expand her skillset. Her talents were quickly recognised and word spread quickly, helping her home business to expand at a rapid pace. Neharika has also been nominated for a Live Your Dreams SA (LYD SA) Awards for 2022, in the Best TV Presenter category.
She wishes to study broadcast journalism and this nomination is proof that she is on the right track.

An avid reader, Ethan Neil Naicker is a Grade 9 learner at Port Shepstone Secondary, and has an affinity towards his core subjects.
His strong traits include an earnest commitment towards his academics. This conscientious work ethic coupled with his disposition as a philomath has secured him top ranking in all grades at both primary and secondary school.
In Grade 3 he won the Spellathon organised by the Umbango River Conservancy, this put him in good stead in Grade 6 when he participated at District level and then again in Grade 9 when he was placed first in the General Knowledge and Spellathon Competition (junior category organised by the Rotary Club).
In Grade 6 he represented his school, district, circuit and province in a Mental Mathematics competition where he ranked second and obtained a 90% aggregate.

She was chosen for the Ugu District athletics/cross-country team 2022 – KZN championships in Pietermaritzburg.
Liandie always performs her best in academics – Dux learner of 2020-2021 – so far for 2022 she has been number one of the top 10 learners in Grade 11, and she also participated in Con Spirito and Eisteddfod.
Her words of advice are: “I really want to make the school a place where everyone enjoys it and it is not a punishment. I have enjoyed my entire school career by participating in so many things as possible and tackling them with passion. I want to motivate the learners and show what it is to be part of the school’s spirit”.
