Heritage tennis for Southbroom players

Thanks were exteneded to Rob van der Schyff and Pauline Lee (The Waffle House) for sponsoring prizes and to the Brauteseth family for the venison.

Southbroom Tennis Club players enjoyed trying out a new format in the Net Points Round Robin on Heritage Day.

Rob Cubbin and his son Seth topped the leaderboard in the red and white division, with Mark Hanson and Kirsten Garbini in second place.

Hriday Kambaran and Bernie Kruger take a short break.

Richard Short and Brendan Els won the black and blue division, with Richard and Hriday Kambaran second.

Gary Purtell and Pauline Lee claimed first place in the green and gold division, followed by Maxine Mackay-Coghill and Bernie Kruger.

The bakers did not disappoint, with every offering delicious, but a queen had to be crowned, and Kyla Brauteseth took home the title for her peppermint crisp slices.

Some wonderful outfits were on display, with best-dressed prizes going to Gill Spittal and Alan Hurlbatt.

The organising committee was thanked for the delightful decor, delicious venison and tasty boeries – all creating a super South African vibe, with music adding to it all.
