Racers ready for the Emerald flag

Hosting the Master of the Mile Championship Trophy is the Emerald Resort and Casino which will see a variety of purpose-built race cars take on the 1.6km track from 28 February – 1 March 2020.

The race will not only see spectacular cars but also local heavyweight contenders including Franco Scribante and André Bezuidenhout, both three times Knysna King of the Hill title holders. Joining them in this event is Reghard Roets, Wilhelm Baard and previous Mobil 1 V8 Super Car Champion, Franco Di Matteo. Franco Scribante will be taking on the track in his custom-built Nissan GTR 35 while André Bezuidenhout will be piloting a Martini Porsche RSR in the Historic racing category.

“We’ve been waiting for an event like this to take place in Gauteng for a long time. I’m excited about the challenge because it’s an even playing field as none of us has raced on this high downforce circuit before,” Franco Scribante, racing driver, Franco Scribante Racing. “The organizers of this event have gone out of their way to attract a quality field and all the competitors are looking forward to showing their skills and equipment. I predict that the event will go from strength to strength,” André Bezuidenhout, Porsche enthusiast & racing driver.

Our very own Autodealer editor, Sean Nurse, will also be conquering the hill, piloting the new Toyota GR Supra featuring a 3-litre straight-six motor producing 250 kW and 500 N.m of torque. The event will include a variety of categories; Historic cars, Road Performance and Supercars, Modified Saloon Cars, Sports Cars and the much-anticipated Master of the Mile Championship and will see over 80 contenders take part in the different disciplines. Spectators can also expect a variety of lifestyle retail exhibitors and live music performances from local artist as well as classic car displays and beer tents. The pit areas will also give spectators access to get to admire the cars, drivers and crews up close.
