SAPS cracks down on drugs in Eldos

The AGU’s proactive measures and community partnership result in significant arrests and seizures, promoting community safety.

In a display of vigilance, the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) successfully disrupted illicit drug activities in Eldorado Park on May 3.

During routine operations, AGU members noticed a male exhibiting suspicious behaviour. They conducted a consented search, revealing 14 ziplock bags of suspected cat drugs, six ziplock bags of suspected crystal meth, and 13 half tablets of suspected mandrax.

The suspect was promptly arrested and taken to a local police station.

In a separate operation, the AGU team acted on credible information regarding drug sales at a residence along Cumming Road.

Upon arrival, they arrested a male suspect found in possession of a substantial quantity of suspected crystal meth, 22 full tablets, and 70 halved tablets suspected to be mandrax.

The AGU team also responded to information about an armed individual in the vicinity. During a search, they discovered an unlicensed firearm and 15 live rounds of ammunition on the suspect. He was subsequently arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

All detained suspects are expected to appear before their respective courts soon.

“It is through this partnership with concerned residents and informers that we can work towards eradicating illegal firearms and substances from our communities,” said Brigadier Albert Maphoto.
