Moolman-Pasio misses out in late sprint

After sticking with the peloton throughout the 134km race, Moolman-Pasio was left stranded in a bunch sprint.

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio was dropped in a lengthy chase for the line on Saturday, taking 26th place in the elite women’s road race at the Road Cycling World Championships in Doha.

After sticking with the peloton throughout the 134km race, Moolman-Pasio was left stranded in a bunch sprint, crossing the line four seconds behind Amalie Dideriksen of Denmark who won the race in 3:10:27.

Samantha Sanders finished in 41st position, eight seconds further back, and Heidi Dalton, the only other South African rider to finish the race, was 58th.

The eight-day global championships will come to a close with the elite men’s road race on Sunday.
