SA Rugby must now honour the promise they made to the Cheetahs

There's too much talent and potential in the Free State for the Cheetahs to be restricted to domestic rugby.

It’s time that South African rugby bosses made good on their promises and got the Cheetahs playing international rugby. It is sad that one of the country’s best unions continue to play only domestically in the Currie Cup. The Cheetahs simply have to play against overseas opposition – they’re too good to not be playing internationally. When they were kicked out of the Pro14 (now the United Rugby Championship), and before that Super Rugby - to allow the Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers in - the SA Rugby chiefs promised them a spot in an international competition.
