Dumisane Hlaselo won the men’s race at the fourth edition of the TomTom Tembisa Street Mile on Sunday, while junior athlete Simone Weitsz continued to display her potential by securing the women’s title.
Hlaselo crossed the line in 4:20, two seconds clear of Folavio Sehohle, with Pharson Magagane ending third in 4:25.
Weitsz won easily in 5:09, seven seconds ahead of Anuscha Nice, and former world 800m champion Caster Semenya grabbed third spot in 5:18.
Namakoe Nkhasi bagged the men’s 10km crown in 29:26, smashing the course record and finishing more than a minute before second-placed Joel Mmone.
Zimbabwean Rutendo Nyahora also broke the record, winning the women’s event in 34:51, with in-form school teacher Nolene Conrad ending second in 35:52.
