Naka changes up selections

He had to patiently await his chance, but now the big moment has finally arrived for livewire Cheetahs flank Oupa Mahoje.

Mahoje was yesterday included in the Cheetahs starting line-up for their match against the Force in Bloemfontein on Saturday, as Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske made three changes to the starting side who lost 26-21 to the Bulls at Loftus last weekend.

Mahoje, who has made all his appearances for the Cheetahs off the bench this year, replaces blindside flanker Jean Cook – who injured his shoulder against the Bulls and has been ruled out for the next four weeks.

The other significant changes Drotske made were the recalls of Springboks, flyhalf Johan Goosen and prop Coenie Oosthuizen to his starting line-up.

Goosen made his return off the bench at Loftus last weekend after a concussion, while Oosthuizen made a long awaited comeback from a neck injury off the bench.

Goosen replaces Elgar Watts, while Oosthuizen will start at tighthead in place of Maks van Dyk.

There is still doubt over the ankle injury wing Raymond Rhule sustained last weekend.

He is bracketed with Cornal Hendricks, while Griquas’ Howard Mnisi will come onto the bench if Rhule fails his fitness test.

Drotske has had to make significant changes to his bench.

Lock Ligtoring Landman has been ruled out with a calf injury and been replaced by Waltie Vermeulen, while Griquas’ Carel Greeff comes in as replacement for Mohoje.
