The incident was picked up by touch judge Quentin Immelman who alerted Legoete who said “it’s a family show”.

Barnes received a red card for the incident in the 72nd minute, which was in breach of Law 10.4 (m) and (s).

At the time Legoete said to Barnes while showing him the red card: “This is for using crude language towards me.”

Law 10.4 (m) states that a player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure, while Law 10.4 (s) states that all players must respect the authority of the referee and must not dispute the referee’s decisions.

The hearing will take place at 3pm on Thursday in Kimberley. Advocate Pieter Fischer has been appointed the judicial officer.
