Where will the Currie Cup final take place – Cape Town, Johannesburg or Durban?

With the verdict to be delivered after tomorrow’s semifinals at Ellis Park and Newlands, it’s only the Blue Bulls who are out of the picture to host the final as they finished fourth as the lowest qualifier.

– Newlands will play host if the Lions and Western Province advance;

– Ellis Park will be the venue if the Lions and Bulls go through;

– Kings Park will get the final if the Sharks and the Bulls surprise tomorrow.

Province finished first on the log, followed by the Lions, Sharks and Bulls, and according to competition rules, the final will be hosted by the highest qualified team.

The Lions last hosted the final in 2011, the Sharks in 2012 and Province last year, while the Bulls last hosted the showpiece in 2009 when they beat the Cheetahs in the final at Loftus.

While the Sharks and Province faced each other in the last two finals, a Sharks/Bulls final last took place in 2008.

The Lions/Bulls last played in a final in 2002, while the Lions and Province last met in a final 28 years ago – in 1986 when Province won 22-9 at Newlands.
