Eighthman Willie Britz, scrumhalf Michael Bondesio and wing Deon van Rensburg will be honoured for their services to the union.

Britz, who waspart of the team who went down to Western Province in last weekend’s Currie Cup final, has signed for the Cheetahs and will represent them in next year’s Super Rugby competition.

Van Rensburg and Bondesio, who have not featured in the Currie Cup, have both decided to call it a day after failing to overcome long-term injuries which have hampered their playing time, with leg injuries and shoulder niggles forcing them to come to the decision.

The rest of the players will be given time off until the middle of November when the Super Rugby pre-season starts in all earnest.

This doesn’t include the four players who have earned a call-up to the Bok squad – captain and eighthman Warren Whiteley, prop Julian Redelinghuys, hooker Robbie Coetzee and flanker Jaco Kriel.
