It will be the Lions’ final game on tour after winning two from three matches on tour to date. Surprisingly, Ackermann has made nine changes, including two positional changes, to the team who surprised the Rebels 20-16 last weekend in Melbourne as he preferred to keep rotating players after six consecutive matches.

Ackermann has made just one change up front as Robbie Coetzee starts at hooker, replacing Akker van der Merwe who reverts to the bench. In the backline however, it’s only outside centre Lionel Mapoe who starts in the same position as last weekend.

At scrumhalf, Ross Cronje returns to the starting team, replacing Faf de Klerk as he pairs up with Elton Jantjies who shifts back to flyhalf from centre to replace Marnitz Boshoff who starts from the bench.

Harold Vorster returns to the starting line-up at inside centre. Sampie Mastriet shifts from the right to left wing in the place of Courtnall Skosan, making way for Ruan Combrinck who starts at right wing.

With Jaco van der Walt ruled out of the game with an injured jaw, Andries Coetzee starts again at fullback after being played off the bench against the Rebels.

Kick-off is at 11am South Africa time on Friday.
