This comes after the Brazilians returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday night when they beat AmaZulu 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld.

The former Bafana Bafana took a veiled dig at Chiefs and Pirates, who are not playing in the Caf competition, saying only Sundowns and Bidvest Wits can ask the Premier Soccer League to postpone their fixtures. Wits are playing in the Caf Confederation Cup.

“The only two teams that can talk about proposing the fixtures are us and Wits, no one else. The rest are well-rested, they play every Sunday, they can do the shopping and fetch children from school. We don’t fetch children from school because we are in camp,” said Mosimane.

“When you are a well-rested team, you cannot compete with other teams. Know that space and know where you are and play in that lane, that’s all. Come to the fast lane and then we’ll talk, don’t talk from the slow lane,” he added.

Mosimane continued: “If you want to win the local league and want to win the Champions League, it takes a lot. People don’t understand what happens behind the scenes. We slept late on Tuesday night, recommending the fixtures to the PSL to change and move games. The Stellenbosch game is one of them. We asked if they can move it but the PSL says ‘where are you going to put it because you are playing every three days’. We have been suggesting to the league and fortunately with that part, they have been good and they have listened to us when we propose because we have to propose.”

Sundowns will resume their quest for African glory this Saturday when they host Angolan side Petro Atletico in the Caf Champions League group stage opener.
