Orlando Pirates left back Thabo Matlaba says winning the Nedbank Cup will heal wounds of their poor showing in the 2015/16 season.

The Buccaneers have endured quite a roller-coaster campaign, which saw them seal the league campaign top-eight finish on the last day of the league as they finished seventh on the log standings with 41 points.

“We all know that we did not have a good season, but we have the Nedbank Cup final to play and win in order to redeem ourselves,” said Matlaba.

The Buccaneers face SuperSport United in their last chance of grabbing silverware this season.

And Matlaba says it would be good for the team to win the title to end the season on high.

“It is very important for us to win the game, especially for our fans because they have been there for us throughout the season.”

The Buccaneers take on Matsatsantsa a Pitori at the Peter Mokaba Stadium for the Nedbank tittle.
