This was revealed by Kutumela’s former teammate at Baroka, Dumisani Ngwenya who praised the new Pirates signing for his work ethic.
“We knew long ago. He signed with Pirates before the season started and we knew he was with us on loan and that is why we helped him as a team to ensure he shows his true potential,” said Ngwenya.
Ngwenya said the team had already started with plans to fill departing Thabiso Kutumela’s place towards the end of the season, and also revealed that he never held back because his future was set and worked hard to help the team finish top on the National First Division league.
“He is a hard worker and it was easy to help him because he is humble and always put the team’s interest first although he knew his future was set. Anyone else may have not given their all to avoid injuries ahead of their move to Pirates, but he showed hunger in every game and gave his all throughout the campaign,” explained Ngwenya.
Speaking after Baroka’s last game in the NFD on Sunday, Kutumela said he was happy that he had helped the team gain promotion before he left.
“I am happy we qualified to the PSL. It would have been sad for me if I had to leave them in the NFD,” he said.
