Kwa-Zulu Natal champions Kings United and Magesi FC of Limpopo will battle each other for a grand prize of R1 million after booking their spot in the National First Division (NFD), following a tough campaign in the ABC Motsepe League playoffs played in Bloemfontein this past week.

Ball on the pitch.

Nine provincial winners in the country have been taking on each other in a round robin-format group phase divided in two groups since Monday with the top two teams in the groups being set for promotion to the NFD.

In the end, it was Kwa-Zulu Natal champions Kings United who earned a spot in South Africa’s second biggest league, when they beat Tornado FC by 2-1 courtesy of goals from Mmiseni Ndlovu and Thobani Kunene to make sure they finish on top in Group A.

Meanwhile, in Group B, Magesi finished their play-offs campaign with a hard fought 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from each halve by Ditlhoriso Mphyane and Bruce Mapusha to edge out JDR Stars and take their point tally to nine points in the group.

The team’s will now meet in the final of the play-offs at Dr P Molemela Stadium on Sunday.
