Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba said the win against Senegal has given him 'second chance' as he had been written off prior to the match.

Mashaba’s team put on a gallant performance to beat West African giants, Senegal 2-1 in an important 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier on Saturday afternoon in Polokwane.

The win saw Bafana leap frog the Teranga Lions to top Group D.

“The win is a second lease on life. I was dead already (according to the media). This win is big for me,” said Mashaba.

Bafana scored their first goal through a suspect penalty, and Mashaba admitted he needs to watch videos of the game to see what happened.

“We were just seating down and I heard someone on the bench saying ‘it’s a penalty’. When I looked up I saw the referee pointing to the spot. Obviously we can’t say ‘no, we don’t want it’. Sometimes you are denied a genuine penalty,” said Mashaba.

He said he would watch the replay when he gets home to see what happened.
