Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse has expressed his disappointment with his team after they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Bafana Bafana on Saturday afternoon.

The defeat saw Bafana leap frog the West African giants to top Group D of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking to journalists in French, Cisse said his Teranga Lions didn’t show up for the first half where Bafana dominated and scored two quick goals towards the end.

Phakaaathi spoke Senegalese journalist, Mame Fatou of TFM about what the coach said in what looked like a heated post match interview.

Fatou said: “He complained that his team didn’t play well in the first half. He said the penalty which was questionable turned the game on its head and decided the game.

“They were better in the second half and were unlucky not to get the equaliser.

“He said he would not say much about the referee but was clearly unhappy.

“His team had been doing well all year and were hoping to finish the year with the 100% record. This match was huge for them as it is the last official game before next year’s Caf Africa Cup of Nations and a win was going to be a good morale booster for his team ahead of the competition.”
