Downs clash not a title decider – Motshwari

Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari and assistant coach Fadlu Davids have dismissed talk that their Absa Premiership clash with Mamelodi Sundowns is a title decider.

Bucs host Masandawana at the Orlando Stadium on Monday, with Bucs going into this game sitting in third place on the league table with 40 points, while Downs top the log with 43 points after 23 games.

“The game on Monday is not a title decider, there will be six games left to play after that. For us, we going there to collect three points and focus on the next match, and the one after that,” said the midfielder.

Davids echoed Motshwari’s words and went on to say that it will be disrespectful to other teams to label this tie as a title decider.

“As Ben said, we have seven games to play, which is 21 points to play for. The next game is not a title decider because there are still 18 points to play for. We can’t say it’s a title decider, that will be disrespecting Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City and SuperSport United. I think the title race will be decided on the last day of the season, and not this game,” Davids shared Motshwari’s sentiments.
