AmaZulu’s quest to make a quick return to the Absa Premiership has not gone as the Durban based team had planned, and now the management is said to be thinking of a major reshuffle.
Phakaaathi has been reliably informed that Usuthu’s management are concerned by the lack of progress in the team which is currently seventh on the National First Division.
“There might be a coaching change at AmaZulu before the second round resumes. The team has been stalling under Steve (Barker) and now the management is looking at ways to rescue the situation. Their main aim was to bounce straight back to the Premiership, but as things stands, that is looking impossible with each game,” said a source close to the team.
Barker was hired towards the end of last season when things were really tough for Usuthu, and although he tried, he couldn’t save them from the chop.
Phakaaathi has also learnt that AmaZulu have asked about former Golden Arrows coach, Shaun Bartlet’s availability with a view to roping him in.
Bartlet shot to prominence when he guided Arrows back to the Premiership last season. Now it looks like Usuthu is hoping he can repeat that feat, and help them back as well.
