Ajax Cape Town defender Abel Mabaso says everyone in the team is highly motivated ahead of their clash with Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Athlone Stadium tonight.

The Urban Warriors recorded their sixth league victory of the season last weekend, beating SuperSport United 3-1.

“It is going to be a tough match, but we are up for it. Everyone is looking sharp at training. They are third in the league table, so they have been doing well. And that is motivation enough for us to get a good result,” said Mabaso.

“We would like keep our momentum going after our win in the previous game. We played really well during that game; we just have to continue with the same performance.”

Ajax haven’t done quite as well in the league recently, with consistently positive results lacking at the club since their MTN8 final victory last year. But Mabaso is adamant they have now picked themselves up and are slowly getting back to the form which won them the trophy.

“We endured some difficult times in the past few months. Things were not going our way after winning the competition as we dropped many points in the league.

“But again, if you look at our last few games, you will see that there is progress.

“It is very important to get good results at this stage of the league, as we are looking to finish in a better position than we did last season,” he added.

Mabaso and company will have a difficult task as they will have to stop the league’s top-scorer Collins Mbesuma who has netted 11 times this season.
