When Liverpool Football Club fired Brendan Rodgers as coach of the Merseyside club, a lot was said about who would replace him, but no one thought a fan would be considered for the job.

Liverpool fan Adam Kneale applied for Rodgers’ position at Anfield and he got a letter from Reds Chief Executive Officer Ian Ayre.
Kneale coached Portsmouth for four seasons from League Two to winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League on FIFA 15.

In the response letter Ayre explained why Kneale couldn’t be Rodgers’ successor.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to process your interest at this time as we are looking for someone with more experience in the professional game,” the letter read.

“In relation to the experience that you have provided; taking Portsmouth Football Club from the 2nd Division and going on to winning the Premier League and Champions League in four seasons on FIFA 15, it is not the required standard of experience that we are looking for at this time.”

Ayre went on to thank the ambitious fan for applying and said he looked forward to crossing paths with him in the future.

“We thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.”
