Clean-up project kicks off

Community members rolled up their sleeves to clean up a residential park.

A movement that started in Brakpan has now spread to Springs. The Clean Springs Community Project saw community members get their hands dirty on Sunday to clean up the park on Botha and Gladstone streets in Geduld.

Some members of the Clean Brakpan Community Project joined the initiative to help with the clean-up of the park.

The team cleaned the park, which had gone unmaintained for months, cut the grass, trimmed trees, and weeded the paving around the grounds.

Marelize Herbst said after being in communication with the Brakpan branch, they decided to start the initiative in Springs.

Riaan Van Zyl from the Clean Brakpan Community Project.

“We thought it would be a good idea to get our community involved after seeing the major impact this clean-up has done in our neighbouring town,” she said.

“The aim is to meet often to clean our parks and other areas left abandoned. After this start of the clean-up, we will decide on how often we would meet up.”

Herbst urges the community and businesses to be a part of the change and adopt neglected areas to restore and build the town.

She extended her gratitude to all those who helped make the clean-up possible.
