Yo-Yo what is happening at Etienne Rousseau

The Etienne Rousseau Theatre brings audiences an exciting mix of live entertainment, from Elandré’s powerful contemporary Afrikaans performance to The Staccatos’ 65-year celebration and a heartfelt tribute to Koos du Plessis. A season of nostalgia, artistry and unforgettable music awaits.

Sasolburg’s Etienne Rousseau Theatre is preparing for a diverse lineup of musical productions, offering audiences three unique live experiences over the coming months.

On 10 July 2026, acclaimed Afrikaans singer-songwriter Elandré will take to the ERT stage for an intimate one-night performance.

Well known for his powerful vocals and emotive storytelling, he will perform favourites such as “Tougher Than the Rest” and “Vuur Op Die Water.” The theatre’s renowned acoustics and close-up setting promise a memorable evening for long-time admirers and new listeners alike.

Also featured on the theatre’s calendar is a milestone celebration with The Staccatos, recognised as South Africa’s longest-running band. The group marks an extraordinary 65 years in the music industry, highlighted by their iconic 1968 single “Cry to Me,” which dominated the Springbok Radio Hit Parade for 38 consecutive weeks.

Their upcoming show will take audiences on a nostalgic journey through their classic hits, many of which were shaped by global music legends including Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley.

The performance is set to include lively audience interaction in honour of the band’s storied legacy.

Rounding out the lineup is ’n Huldeblyk aan Koos du Plessis, a tribute production featuring a full cast of vocalists and instrumentalists.

Performers include Johan Erasmus, Anneke Moolman, Gerda van Moerkerken, Elsa Boshoff, Riaan Lotz, Peter Rademan, Johann Erasmus, Zunica Ermel and Vidette de Lange.

The production incorporates text by Suzanne le Roux and Johan Erasmus. Tickets range from R180 to R200, with bookings available through Quezanne at 071 331 0930.

Together, these shows offer theatre-goers a rich blend of contemporary Afrikaans music, legendary local rock and a heartfelt tribute to one of South Africa’s most beloved songwriters.
