School kids almost killed: no licence, no permit.
A taxi that transports children to various schools, was involved in an accident when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The passengers were, fortunately none killed, but some children sustained some injuries.
Mr Thabo Mnguni was transporting children to school, travelling along the Old Pretoria road towards Clewer, when his vehicle lost control and skidded to the opposite side of the road. The taxi is legally allowed to carry 15 passengers and Mnguni had 17 children in the taxi, with himself included.
The children in the combi did not make it to school that morning, but rather had a trip to the hospital or went back home. Eight of the passengers were injured, with most suffering injuries to their heads and necks. They were taken to different hospitals for examination by their parents and paramedics. Nine of the kids were uninjured and they were taken home. The driver of the taxi was also not injured.
Mnguni was alleged to be without a driver’s licence and a Public Drivers Permit, which permits drivers to transport people in large numbers, on a public road. He was arrested and taken to Vosman Police Station, where a case of culpable homicide was opened against him.
