The South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) announced their Business Women of the Year winners.

This announcement was made at their annual gala dinner on September 13 at Utopia Place in Pretoria. The winners were announced in three categories together with the Mentor of the Year, Branch of the Year, Presidential Award and Honorary Life Member Award.

The categories included entrepreneur, professional and corporate. There are various criteria for the different categories but the minimum factor is that they need to have been in business or in their leadership position for at least three years. They need to have a business plan, be compliant with all government and legal requirements, and know what is happening in their business on a financial level, able to show how they are helping their staff to develop and grow as well as be making an impact in their communities – both on a personal and business level.

“The highlight of SACBW each year is finding the ‘diamonds’ for our Business Women of the Year Competition sponsored by Sanlam. I am always amazed to listen to the success stories of the participants who succeeded and are proud to enter the competition. The transformation process is important to grow our organisation and it is noted that the national finalists this year represents the different nationalities and the youth! It is never an easy process to judge the finalists and to identify the winners as all of the women participated are winners in their own right,” said Ms Hester du Bruyn, President of SABCW.

Anita Botes, an agent at Harcourts was the winner of the Corporate Category. She is a successful, driven person with a passion for people and wants to see positive results in everything she does.
