Four healthy dog treats in your fridge
Store-bought treats are expensive and often contain unhealthy ingredients, so keep life simple and give your dog healthy snacks straight from the fridge.
Who doesn’t love a little snack here or there to bridge the gap between meals? And who can resist those puppy dog eyes, looking deep into your soul, desperately hoping for a treat…or three! Keep your dog’s weight in check and your bank balance looking healthy with these affordable, effortless and doggylicious treats:
An apple a day…keeps skin problems away
Share a slice or two of your daily apple munch with your four-legged friend to give them a vitamin A and C boost which will help keep their skin and coat healthy. Just remember not to feed the core and seeds.
Crunchy, healthy fun
Fill up a treat toy with a raw, chopped up carrot and watch them keep busy for hours. The crunching helps clean their teeth, while the actual carrot is low in calories and high in fibre. Add a bit of peanut butter to make it extra tasty.
Dose up on the greens
Small amounts of raw or steamed broccoli or green beans are low in calories, making this an excellent treat for dogs on a diet. Broccoli is also a great source of fibre and vitamin C, while beans are packed with minerals.
A sweet, energy boost
High in potassium, vitamins, biotin and fibre, yet low in cholesterol and sodium, bananas are a great treat for your pooch – in moderation. The high sugar content means you want to only give a little bit at a time, not a whole banana!
